Everything You Need to Know for
July 26 Hilltop Olympics & Picnic
We are just days away from our third annual Hilltop Olympics & Summer Picnic, set for Friday, July 26, 2024. So, we’d like to share with you — our employees, Residents, and their families — everything you need to know to get ready for the big day.
Where Do I Park?: The event will take up our entire upper parking lot. Therefore, there will be no parking for employees or visitors in the upper lot on Friday morning. Please park behind the building. Those bringing family members with mobility issues can drop them off up top before parking around back. We anticipate that, with time for cleanup, normal parking will resume by 3 p.m.
What’s the Schedule for the Day?: The event officially starts at 11:30 a.m. We welcome loved ones to arrive a bit earlier to help us bring our Residents outside starting around 11:15 a.m. Lunch service will begin at 11:30, followed by the start of our other festivities. Please click here for a full schedule.
What About the Weather?: Right now, the weather looks perfect. But it is Pittsburgh, so you never know. We are planning for a sunny summer day by gathering pop-up tents to provide as much shade as possible for our Residents while they eat and watch the Olympics. We recommend that families make sure their Residents have sunscreen and a hat.
How Can I Help?: We will have two simple games set up for Residents. We encourage family members to bring the Residents to the designated area to try these games, where they can win small prizes. We look forward to seeing those of you who have registered for the Olympics compete and hearing everyone else cheer on our athletes.
How Do I Pay for My Guest Tickets?: Guest lunches are $5 each. If you haven’t yet paid, you can do so at the raffle table on Friday. While you’re there, be sure to enter the raffle and get your Mt. Assisi Place keychain (one per person, please).
What Are the Rules of the Olympic Events?:The basic guidelines of each event will be explained as we go along. But you can familiarize yourself with the event rules ahead of time and see who is scheduled to participate.
Staffers Joanne Osborn and Carolyn Klingensmith eat lunch before the 2023 games begin.
