In-House Eyecare Program

Through a partnership with InSight Eye Consultants, we are able to offer an in-house eyecare program for our Residents. Dr. Gary Reck comes to Mt. Assisi Place regularly (dates announced ahead of time) to provide eye care for Residents who wish to see him.

The professionally trained staff at InSight Eye Consultants (IEC) provides a wide range of ophthalmologic, optometic and optical services right here onsite. These services include eye exams, glasses, frame replacement, adjustments and repairs.

Regular & Special Exams: Residents have access to complete eye exams, as well as special screenings for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetes-related eye issues and other medical eye disorders. IEC also treats infections of the eyes and eyelids and provides follow-up services for these and other eye ailments.

Senior-Friendly Service: IEC’s exam procedure takes into account the limited capabilities of geriatric patients. Being in a wheelchair, in a geriatric chair or bed-fast are not considered to be limitations. IEC’s doctors have an ongoing presence here at Mt. Assisi Place to monitor our Residents’ eyecare needs.

Convenience & Safety: Under this partnership, it will no longer be necessary for our residents to leave our personal care home to receive optical care at an offsite office. IEC’s optometrists and ophthalmologists are fully insured and licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board.

Covered by Medicare: IEC is an authorized Medicare provider. Eye exams are covered under Medicare Part B, and assignment is accepted. All other insurances – including Medicaid, Security Blue, United Health Care, Advantra and all other supplemental insurances – are accepted. Adjustments and repairs are provided free of charge.

Authorization Needed: Please click here to view and print the required authorization form for participation in the in-house eyecare program. Residents cannot be seen by Dr. Reck until an authorization is received on their behalf. Completed forms can be returned to the Mt. Assisi Place Reception Desk or mailed to Diane Ott, Mt. Assisi Place, 934 Forest Avenue, Pittsburgh PA 15202. If you do not have a printer, you may stop by the Reception Desk to complete a form.
