Meet Sue Channer

Role: Activities Volunteer

With Mt. Assisi Place: Since June 2022

Lives In: My husband, Brian, and I live in a very friendly neighborhood in Ross Township. It’s just a hop, skip and a jump to get to Mt. Assisi Place.

Family: We have four married children, along with eight grandkids and our first great-grandchild. We keep busy with family.

Previous Work Experience: I worked as a cleanup supervisor with Firedex, and then as an in-home companion and caregiver for the elderly.

What Brought You to Mt. Assisi Place: After we downsized, I went through a period of “vegging out.” Then it was time to get going again. I have been blessed in my life, and it was time to give back. As soon as I walk in the door here, I am energized.

Hobbies: I keep so busy with my grandchildren that I don’t really have hobbies anymore, but I do like to sew and have been teaching my granddaughters how to sew.

Can’t Live Without: Potato chips and chocolate

Favorite Celebrity: My favorite TV person is Hoda Kotb. Two years ago on vacation in Rehoboth Beach, we were walking, and there she was with her children! I put out my arms and she gave me a big hug. I have a picture to prove it.

Dream Trip: We have traveled to several countries and to many of the National Parks in America. These days, we are happy sitting on our deck, watching the sunset and sipping a glass of wine.

Enjoys Working with Seniors Because: My time with the Residents, the Sisters and the staff that keep Mt. Assisi going has been a blessing for me. It is a wonderful gift when a few nice words and a smile can lift up a heart. That is what we do for each other.
